To fulfil this ambition, we will build on the very strong foundations we already have. We are the most awarded British production company today and the number one distributor – with a brand that is unique in the market. With £1.4bn in revenue we are already one of the UK’s leading creators and distributors of content.
Our annual financial returns to the BBC are equivalent to around 12% of BBC Content’s total programme spend, and last year we made seven of the BBC’s top 10 titles. But in a fast-changing market, we cannot simply stand still. So, our new company will have a very clear direction and destination; new ways of working together, and with our partners, based on principles that we all understand; and a binding commitment on behaviours, relevant to every one of us in BBC Studios.
